This is a family, pet friendly camp. Close to events and a great get away. Employees are always eager to please.
We have traveled all over the western United States and have never stayed at a worse campground! We made reservations 2 months before our arrival date, when we arrived the boy at the front gate told us to drive around and see if we could find a place we would "fit in to". We are pulling a 38' fifth-wheel, the campground consist of very narrow, twisting, poorly maintained roads with overhanging trees. Needless to say we suffered several large scratches and gouges on the sides of our camper. After finally parking and walking we found the only spot we could barely back into, and it only had 30 amp service, no sewer and 9 psi of water pressure. All of this for $77.00 a night!!! We will never be back or ever even think of staying anyplace affiliated with Thousand Trails.
Rude staff that directed us into a spot too small for our rig and after a tree branch that was cut shallow gashed the side of our RV, causing extensive damage, they found a spot we could fit - not even an apology. Oh well. After getting settled, I calmly drove my new car out of the park and then, after exiting the park, I proceeded to rip my tires on my out (this is a road off the beaten path and the coast was clear) and it felt good to let off some steam after that debacle. To add insult to injury, when I returned, the staff is now antagonistic and stopping me at the gate, keeping me from my family, as they proceeded to berate me on my driving OUTSIDE of the park! Still, I apologized and assured them it wouldn't happen again. Almost 1 week later, I get a note from them saying we need to vacate the spot my family is settled in to, this after they've already moved us twice AND now they say our membership is suspended for 30 days! WHAT? Are you kidding me? Skip this park if you're looking for anything resembling friendly. I'm in tears trying to keep it together after all of the damage to our motorcoach and they rub salt in the open wound they caused...ouch! The name of the person behind this cruelty WITHOUT EVEN A WARNING is Leslie Blackwell, Member Services Manager, Thousand Trails.
The best staff! Everyone is friendly and wonderful. The park is a tight fit for large rigs but can be done (We are 42ft). Beautiful scenery.
Great campground, very nice and helpful rangers. About 50 miles from downtown San Diego.
